Co-curricular Activities Various inter house competitions like talent hunt, memory test, arathi plate decoration, story telling, drawing and colouring, flower arrangement (pookalam), patriotic songs competition were held to build up the values like leadership, team spirit and co-ordination. Talents day was conducted for the students of class 1 to 5 on 6th June and 8th June for the higher classes. Calligraphy competition was conducted on 23rd June. On 11th July Story telling competition was conducted from class 1 to 5. Extempore and debate competition was conducted on 19th July for classes 6 to 10. On 3rd August pick and speak competition was conducted for class 1 &2, Rakhi making competition for class 3 to 5 and clay modeling competition for class 6 to 10. Shloka chanting competition was conducted for the children of classes 1 & 2, clay modeling for classes 3 to 5, singing competition for classes 6 to 8 and debate completion for classes 9 & 10. On 23rd November Drama competition was conducted for children of class 6 to 10. Students participated house wise. Theme for the competition was life instance of any Indian Freedom fighter. Reciting Vachana and Kagga competition was conducted for children of class 1 to 5 on 7th November 2011. Faculty Development Programme During November month Smt.Velina, Sri.Vasanth, Smt.Seema gave a wonderful presentation. September -Faculty members Smt.Hema Ravichandran, Smt.Riba and Smt.Anette participated in a days workshop organized by CBSE on Formative Assessment.Smt. Riba, Smt.Sneha, Smt.Gayatri, Smt.Deepthi and Smt,Nagalaxmi gave their presentation during the month. August - Enriching and enlightening sessions were carried out by the faculty members Smt.Kalpana Shukla, Smt.Roopa, Smt.Komala, Sri.Kalleshappa and Sri.Kallachari during the Saturday meeting session. NIE: Circulation of “The Hindu” daily newspaper has been executed from class 5 to 10. Children are improving their reading habits and are abreast with the current affairs. NIE classes were conducted by the resource persons during the month. ConclusionIn this way RVK-B has been endeavoring to develop children into holistic human beings by focusing on all areas of child development namely – academic, physical developmental thru sports, psychological development thru co-curricular activities and character building thru cultural activities embedded in Hindu traditions & values.
